The Chartered Institute of Building CIOB

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) was established in 1834 as the Builder's Society being renamed in 1884 the Institute of Builders and in 1965 becoming the Chartered Institute of Building and is the construction management industries professional body. Construction management covers the whole lifespan of a building from concept to design to construction and operation. The Chartered Institute of Building have a comprehensive resources of publications, experts and mentors as well as forums are available to its members providing a wealth of up to date information and expertise.

Historic Buildings

From the Chartered Institute of Building's beginning back in 1834 it has been influential in many historic buildings such as:- The Houses of Parliament Nelson's Column and more recently the London Olympic Games

CIOB Royal Charter

In 1980 the CIOB gained a Royal Charter with objectives to:- Promote for the public benefit the science and practice of building and construction. Advancement of public education in the science and practice of building and construction including all necessary research and the publication of the results of the research
